AG Publicity Clients Land Multiple Ovations at 2017 Absolutely Gospel Music Awards

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – (April 14, 2017) – The 2017 Absolutely Gospel Music Awards were handed out Tuesday night and AG Publicity Clients landed multiple awards throughout the night.

Karen Peck & New River was named the biggest winner of the night, taking home Ovations for Fan Favorite Artist of the Year, Mixed Group of the Year, and Progressive Song of the Year (for the #1 hit single “Calling”). In addition, group member Karen Peck Gooch was awarded her first Songwriter of the Year (Artist) trophy.

Karen Peck said, “We are extremely grateful to all of you who voted for us in the Absolutely Gospel Music Award. KPNR won Fan Favorite Artist, Mixed Group, Progressive Country Song (Calling), and I won Songwriter of the Year. This was my first time and I’m still in shock.  Also we want to congratulate Absolutely Gospel for 20 years of service to the Southern Gospel Industry.”

The Freemans’ matriarch Chris Freeman took home two awards as well. Chris won her first Female Vocalist of the Year award. Also, her debut solo recording, The Hinson Side of Me, took home the Special Event Project of the Year Ovation.

Chris Freeman shared, “A ’double blessing’. Those are the best kind. Thank you Absolutely Gospel for the honor of receiving the Female Vocalist of the Year and also Special Event Project of the Year, The Hinson Side of Me, produced by Darrell Freeman.”

Continuing Chris said, “Thank you to all who voted for me, and thank you to my family, the Freemans. Thank you to the Hinsons, Ronny, Kenny, and Larry, because without you I wouldn’t be where I am today. There are so many more that I don’t have time or paper to put them down on. I do want to clarify that when Kelly Nelon commented that the last time I won an award she and Janet Paschal were the award girls, she forgot to mention that I was very young, close to their age, maybe even younger, when I won that Queen of Gospel Music title. I do want to thank Kelly for her encouraging words from the stage. She is an inspiration to me. Lastly I want to congratulate Absolutely Gospel for 20 years of service to the Gospel Music community.”

Critically acclaimed country and bluegrass fusion group HIGHROAD was awarded Country Song of the Year for their fan favorite song “Christ My Hope, My Glory”. The song was co-written by group founder Sarah Davison (with Dove Award and AGM Award winning songwriter Kenna West) and featured a duet vocal by Grammy Award winner Jason Crabb.

Sarah Davison of HIGHROAD commented, ”We were so happy to be a part of the Absolutely Gospel Music Awards here in Nashville. Ben Isaacs and Jason Crabb are a huge blessing to us and we are so thankful for them. Thank you Absolutely Gospel Music for Country Song of the Year.”

Finally, 11th Hour took home their second career AGM Award last night for What a Moment. That recording landed the Progressive Recording of the Year award.

2017 Absolutely Gospel Music Awards Handed Out

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – (April 12, 2017) – Celebrating AbsolutelyGospel.com’s 20th Anniversary this year, the 2017 Absolutely Gospel Music Ovation Awards were handed out last night at a special concert celebration in Nashville, TennesseeKaren Peck & New River, The Isaacs, and Tribute were named the big winners.

Perennial favorite Karen Peck & New River took home an impressive four trophies. The group was awarded Fan Favorite Artist of the Year, Mixed Group of the Year, and Progressive Song of the Year for “Calling” (which was written by Jason Cox, Gerald Crabb, and Karen Peck Gooch) . In addition, the group founder Karen Peck Gooch won her first Songwriter of the Year (Artist) award.

The Isaacs and Tribute won an stellar three Ovations last night. The Isaacs took home the Ovation for Album of the Year for their critically-acclaimed release Nature’s Symphony In 432, in addition to Country Recording of the Year and Producer of the Year (Artist) for Ben Isaacs. Tribute won another Traditional Recording of the Year trophy (for “Here For You“) and group members Riley Harrison Clark and Josh Singletary took home Male Vocalist of the Year and Musician of the Year respectively.

Additional artists and individuals who won multiple awards throughout the evening included Chris Freeman, Sue C. Smith, Gerald Crabb, and Jason Crabb.

One of the biggest awards of the evening – 2017 Pacesetter Award – was handed to Crossroads Music Group which is home to some of the biggest names in Gospel music today including Kingdom Heirs, The Talleys, The McKameys, and 11th Hour among many more.

The staff of AbsolutelyGospel.com was proud to award the Susan Unthank Memorial Award to Amy Marie Zika, the daughter of Susan Unthank. This award honors women who have worked in this field of music and made a resounding impact on Southern Gospel music.

BMW Group subsidiary Designworks collaborates with Layer3 TV to re-invent the cable TV experience.

Los Angeles, CA. Cable TV set-top boxes are not generally among the home devices consumers are particularly proud of. In 2016, Layer3 TV, a Denver based innovative pay-TV distributor, announced that this should change and commissioned BMW Group subsidiary Designworks to re-think what a cable TV set-top box should be and how it should function. The new box unites excellence in engineering with a modern, modular design that fits into each room’s aesthetic. Customers are now offered both: a unique, intuitive interface that seamlessly integrates the best of cable TV, premium channels, streaming online video content, social media and smart home devices and a whole-home gateway that upgrades any living room.

Until recently set-top boxes provided by cable companies left a lot to be desired: With a limited color palette, ranging from black to black, an overall design that scarcely related to considerations of interior décor, flashing LEDs, vents that could not be covered, and an array of buttons, boxes up until today did not play an essential role in the user experience. To solve this problem, the Designworks team took a new approach to these overlooked but ubiquitous objects. It came up with a set-top box that can harmonize with a home dweller’s sense of place, creating a device defined by clean lines and a sleek, low profile that can slot into entertainment systems, bookshelves, or reside comfortably on a coffee table.

The Next TV User Experience.

The design team sought to eliminate many of the unnecessary features of conventional boxes, taking a “less is more” approach and rethinking them from the ground up. The result is a user-friendly design that hides in plain sight, better integrating into its environment. The Layer3 TV box offers a simple solution and presents consumers with options for colors and materials so it can be customized. In addition, to make them more intuitive to use, all unnecessary buttons and LEDs were eliminated. The design team also eliminated all top, side, and front-facing vents, making the product virtually immune from damage by stacking or liquid spills. Tangled cables, typical of the home entertainment experience, were also dramatically paired down for a cleaner look and feel in the home environment. “The user experience is at the heart of what we design for at Designworks, whether we are working on aviation interiors, user interaction concepts or solutions for the smart home” said André de Salis, creative director and project lead for Layer3 TV at Designworks. “To re-imagine the cable television experience for the first time in over a decade together with Layer3 TV was a task we more than enjoyed. The new Layer3 TV cable set-top box is an easy to use interface powered by a beautiful product that truly fits in people’s homes,” he continues.

Coachella 2017: BMW i debuts as an exclusive partner of the acclaimed music festival.

Munich. BMW i will debut as the exclusive transportation partner at the Coachella Valley Music & Art Festival in 2017, providing VIP shuttle service and hospitality during the weekends of April 14-16 and 21-23. BMW’s sustainable, future-oriented brand will provide BMW i3 electric vehicles and BMW X5 40e iPerformance plug-in hybrid electric vehicles for transportation on and around the festival site.

A stand-out feature of the BMW i3 fleet at Coachella is a unique wrap that was created especially for the occasion, its design reflecting the creative and unconventional character of the event. BMW i8 plug-in hybrid electric sports cars with Coachella design will also take to the roads between Los Angeles and Palm Springs with a selected group of festival-bound celebrities and influencers on board.

“Road to Coachella”.

A social media campaign entitled “Road to Coachella” kicked-off the partnership on March 14. The campaign offers festival goers the chance to be entered into a drawing to win a festival pass by documenting their preparation for the festival and their own journey to Coachella Valley via social media using the hashtag #RoadToCoachella.

Renowned composer and music producer Hans Zimmer (“Inception”, “Pearl Harbor”, “The Dark Knight” and “The Lion King”) has provided the soundtrack for a video promoting “Road to Coachella.

The three-minute piece, which debuted on April 9 on BMW’s YouTube Channel, is set to a Zimmer’s music and features the BMW i8 hybrid electric sports car, while providing a look at his preparations as he and his orchestra ready for their first-ever Coachella performance. Also featured in the video are fellow Coachella performers including Marshmello, Galantis, Ryan Rabin of Grouplove, Warpaint and Broods.

Furthermore, BMW i will invite visitors during the festival to visit the innovative BMW i Brand Lounge in the VIP Area, where they can experience up close the allure of BMW i and the unique Coachella design, co-developed with Garage Italia Customs.

BMW Team RLL – 2017 Long Beach Qualifying Report;

Woodcliff Lake, N.J. – April 7, 2017…  BMW Team RLL scored its best qualifying effort of the 2017 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship today in preparation for tomorrow’s BUBBA burger® Sports Car Grand Prix of Long Beach.

Bill Auberlen, driving the No. 25 BMW M6 GTLM, qualified in the fifth starting position with a lap of 1:17.072 minutes around the 1.968-mile temporary street circuit. John Edwards qualified the No. 24 M6 in the seventh spot with a lap of 1:17.290 minutes. Auberlen will co-drive with Alexander Sims and Edwards will co-drive with Martin Tomczyk. Tomorrow will be the first race at Long Beach for both Sims and Tomczyk.  The class pole position went to the No. 3 Corvette of Jan Magnussen with a lap of 1:16.909 minutes.

The Long Beach, California street circuit has been the site of many BMW Team RLL successes since the team’s first season racing for BMW in 2009. The team has finished the race with at least one BMW on the podium every year except last season. The Bobby Rahal-led team has won the street race three times; once with the BMW M3 GT in 2011 and twice with the BMW Z4 GTLM, in 2013 and 2015. Last year, Bill Auberlen qualified the new M6 GTLM racer on the class pole position, but finished a disappointing fifth after multiple contact with competitors ended another podium opportunity.

“We are in the hunt now,” said Bobby Rahal, Team Principal. “Long Beach is a tough place and the race can be unpredictable, but we will work hard to see some results from our new found competitiveness.”

Bill Auberlen, driver No. 25 BMW M6 GTLM: “I had some good laps. There is always room for improvement, but there is not a great deal left. We are seeing progress and that bodes very well for the race.”

John Edwards, driver No. 24 BMW M6 GTLM: “I am disappointed to be closer to the back of the class than the front, but both of our cars are certainly more competitive than they have been. We can improve our speed a bit more, but starting further back does open certain strategy possibilities here at Long Beach.”

Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing

BMW’s partner, Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing, based in Hilliard, Ohio and co-owned by three-time IndyCar Champion and 1986 Indianapolis 500 winner Bobby Rahal, former CBS Late Show host David Letterman and Mi-Jack co-owner Mike Lanigan, has been competing for over two decades. Prior to the start of their 26th season of competition in 2017, the team had compiled 38 victories, 51poles,151 podium finishes, three series championships (1992, 2010, 2011) and claimed an Indianapolis 500 victory (Buddy Rice in 2004). In 2009 the team joined BMW of North America to campaign the new BMW M3 in the American Le Mans Series. The following year the team won both the Manufacturer and Team Championships in the GT category and swept all three GT titles – Manufacturer, Team and Driver – in 2011. In 2012 the team finished second in the Team Championship and third in the Manufacturer Championship and in 2013, the team finished second in the Driver, Team and Manufacturer Championship. The 2014 season brought a new challenge with the creation of the IMSA United SportsCar Championship and the team finished on the podium six times including four second-place finishes. In 2015, the team earned three wins, two poles and a total of eight podium finishes to finish second in the Manufacturer, Team and Driver championships and added two poles and three podiums in 2016. Prior to the start of the 2017 season, BMW Team RLL had won 13 races, 22 poles and 60 podium finishes.

 

Celebrated Vocalist and Industry Vocal Coach Aaron Unthank Releases First Solo Recording

JACKSONVILLE, Fl. – (April 6, 2017) – Celebrated vocalist and music industry vocal coach Aaron Unthank released his debut solo recording last week. To the delight of fans and peers nationwide, Unthank’s Courageous released digitally on Thursday, March 30, 2017.

Aaron raised the funds to record Courageous after a successful Kickstarter campaign where he rallied the support of industry veterans, fans, and former vocal students to help him achieve his life long dream.

“This project has been in my heart for years,” said Aaron. “It is proof (to me) that God does not forget. If you are familiar with the phrase, ‘It takes a village,’ then you know what I mean when I say I played the LEAST part in this record coming to fruition. There are literally over a hundred people invested in this project in one way or another. I am forever grateful to all of them for providing me the opportunity to make the music that is in my heart to make. All I had to do was write the songs and sing them. They did the rest.”

Courageous was produced by Chad Kirkpatrick, Jamie Miley and Unthank. Unthank co-wrote or arranged all of the songs on the recording, with help from industry leaders Kenna West and Bobby Tinsley.

Highlights of the recording including “I Want You to Know“, a song written by Aaron for his two teenage children, the blue-eyed soul of “Sweetest Name“, and anthem “Courageous“. The album closes with a medley of Aaron’s favorite worship tunes, aptly titled “Worship Medley“.

​Aaron Unthank is happily married to an amazing woman and dad to a couple of extraordinary kids now entering teenaged-ness.

Originally hailing from the St. Louis area makes him a lover of all things St. Louis style from baseball to BBQ to pizza to jazz. He grew up in southwest Missouri, but now makes his home in Jacksonville, Florida.

He went to college on baseball scholarship and also earned a music scholarship his sophomore year. Around his junior year he began to feel uneasy about the direction of his life. Music began to mean more to him that it ever had before. He began singing “for real.” People heard him and encouraged him to explore his potential. The uneasiness in his heart continued. It was God. God was asking him to dream a different dream. It took months of convincing, but he finally said yes.

Since then he has said yes to many opportunities large and small. He has also said no. The sacrifices a dad makes for his kids are happy, but not always easy. Now that his are pursuing their own interests, he believes he would be a poor example if he didn’t do the same. Never stop dreaming. Never stop pursuing life. That is the best example he can be.
